Reconciliation in Action: A National Engagement Strategy

We reached a pivotal moment in our shared history. In 2017, we marked the 150th anniversary of Canadian confederation. The activities in 2017 provided a unique opportunity for reflection and an opportunity to build new relationships that contributed to our collective well-being. Through Reconciliation in Action: A National Engagement Strategy, Reconciliation Canada examined and documented perceptions, actions and aspirations of Canadians in relation to reconciliation. This narrative recognized our common history, highlight current achievements and create a vision for the next 150 years.Reconciliation in Action: A National Engagement Strategy is a Canada 150 Signature Project.This project included several initiatives planned across Canada through 2016 and 2017 to engage diverse individuals, groups and organizations in the reconciliation process.

Walk for Reconciliation

The Walk for Reconciliation is positive movement to build better relationships among Indigenous peoples and all Canadians. This bold vision calls on everyone of all ages, all backgrounds, all cultures and all faiths to come together as communities and as individuals.

A National Narrative on Reconciliation Online Engagement and Back Pocket Reconciliation Action Plans

Over social media and our website, Reconciliation Canada provides a venue to explore values, beliefs and aspirations in order to capture the current public opinion and understanding on reconciliation.

The Back Pocket Reconciliation Action Plan will contribute to the national narrative on reconciliation by illustrating the ways that Canadians are taking action. By sharing your Back Pocket Reconciliation Action Plan, you are inspiring others to think about reconciliation and to create their own plans.

In the Spirit of Reconciliation: An Intergeneration Gathering

Reconciliation Canada gathered spiritual leaders, elders and youth to reflect on the spiritual aspect of reconciliation and to learn from a rich diversity of perspectives, lived experiences, traditional teachings and cultural backgrounds.

National Narrative Report on Reconciliation

The National Narrative on Reconciliation Report surveyed Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous Canadians on attitudes towards reconciliation and revealed a strong alignment about the contributions that Indigenous Peoples make to Canadian society. The survey, the first of its kind, also points to significant barriers to overcome to truly achieve reconciliation.
