We reached a pivotal moment in our shared history. In 2017, we marked the 150th anniversary of Canadian confederation. The activities in 2017 provided a unique opportunity for reflection and an opportunity to build new relationships that contributed to our collective well-being. Through Reconciliation in Action: A National Engagement Strategy, Reconciliation Canada examined and documented perceptions, actions and aspirations of Canadians in relation to reconciliation. This narrative recognized our common history, highlight current achievements and create a vision for the next 150 years.Reconciliation in Action: A National Engagement Strategy is a Canada 150 Signature Project.This project included several initiatives planned across Canada through 2016 and 2017 to engage diverse individuals, groups and organizations in the reconciliation process.

National Narrative Report on Reconciliation

The National Narrative on Reconciliation Report surveyed Indigenous Peoples and non-Indigenous Canadians on attitudes towards reconciliation and revealed a strong alignment about the contributions that Indigenous Peoples make to Canadian society. The survey, the first of its kind, also points to significant barriers to overcome to truly achieve reconciliation.
